Prince is a fan of Weather Report!

Check out this article!  Prince loves WR!

“Well, I don’t think people learn technique any more. There are no great jazz-fusion bands. I grew up seeing Weather Report, and I don’t see anything remotely like that now. There’s nothing to copy from, because you can’t go and see a band like Weather Report. Al di Meola, the guitar player, he’d just stand in the centre of the stage, soloing, until everyone gives him a standing ovation. Those were the memories that I grew up with and that made me want to play.”

Greg Errico Interview

The master timekeeper of the funk, Greg Errico, sat down with us and shared his incredible journey with WR. Following his ground-breaking rhythmic backbeats with Sly & the Family Stone (he was on all the hits, held the pocket together at Woodstock, took everyone “Higher”), Errico accepted an invitation to take the drum seat in the summer of “73.  For the next six months he toured the States, Europe and Japan, providing what Joe Z himself called the best-sounding engine ever for the “Boogie Woogie Waltz.”

Roger Powell Interview

Roger Powell arrived at a Boston Hotel room in the fall of 1971, carrying a large, unwieldy package – an ARP 2600 synthesizer. Joe Zawinul answered the door, took a look and instantly recognized that a new world of musical opportunities presented itself.  “Just slide this fader here, patch this chord there… and stand back.”  Joe took the young, enthusiastic product rep’s instructions and created an electronic template that continues to bewitch and bedazzle.  Roger Powell tells the This Is This crew the whole story in his exclusive interview for the documentary.
